NBC Sports Boston uses Jayson Tatum to troll Sixers star Joel Embiid

It’s no secret that the Boston Celtics have had the upper hand in their rivalry with the Philadelphia 76ers in recent years. The two teams have met in the playoffs three times over the past decade–2012, 2018, 2020–with the Celtics coming out on top in all three matchups.

The Sixers have begun to have success in the regular season against their rivals as they swept the season series in the 2020-21 season before falling to the Celtics on Wednesday. NBC Sports Boston decided to have a little fun with Sixers star Joel Embiid when the game was over.

As Celtics star Jayson Tatum was at his postgame interview, the Boston TV network used a graphic to describe Tatum as “still Embiid’s father”. The Boston star had 26 points and 16 rebounds for the Cs in the win.

Tatum has had big playoff moments against the Sixers in both 2018 and 2020 so the graphic is fair at the moment. However, Embiid has had his own big individual moments against the Celtics as well. The big fella will just have to be ready for the next matchup.
