Haslem agrees to re-sign with Heat

Forward Udonis Haslem(notes) will re-sign with the Miami Heat after turning down offers for the full midlevel exception from the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks.

The Heat announced the signing Monday evening.

Haslem could have received up to $34 million over five years from the Nuggets and Mavericks, but agreed to take less money to return to the Heat, who are building their roster around LeBron James(notes), Dwyane Wade(notes) and Chris Bosh(notes).

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel, which first reported Haslem's return, said the veteran forward received a contract worth about a third of what he could have made from the Nuggets and Mavericks.

"Turned down full mid level from Dallas and Denver. See u next season," Haslem said in a text message to the newspaper.

Haslem has spent all seven of his NBA seasons with the Heat. He averaged 9.9 points and 8.1 rebounds last season.
