NBA roundup: Clippers reportedly close to acquiring Rivers

The Los Angeles Clippers are close to reaching an agreement to acquire coach Doc Rivers from the Boston Celtics, Yahoo! Sports reported Sunday.

According to the report, based on information from sources, the Clippers would send a 2015 first-round draft pick to the Celtics to obtain the rights to Rivers.

Talks seemed to be dead when discussions broke off on Friday, and there were reports that Rivers was no longer interested in becoming the Clippers coach.

However, discussion began again on Sunday when the Clippers offered a first-round pick to the Celtics, who may be in a rebuilding mode.

The Celtics apparently agreed to accept a 2015 unprotected first-round pick.

The Clippers and Rivers still have to reach an agreement on a contract for the deal to be completed.

The NBA would still need to approve the deal.

---The NBA invited 10 players to attend the draft and could add several others to the list before Thursday night, ESPN.com reported.

The invitees to the green room are Nerlens Noel of Kentucky, Victor Oladipo and Cody Zeller of Indiana, Otto Porter of Georgetown, Alex Len of Maryland, Anthony Bennett of UNLV, Ben McLemore of Kansas, Trey Burke of Michigan, Michael Carter-Williams of Syracuse and C.J. McCollum of Lehigh.

The invitees aren't necessarily the players who will be picked one through 10 but are the ones that NBA general managers have identified as the most likely to be selected early.

---A Florida teenager was hit by a stray bullet in south Florida during the celebration after the Miami Heat's NBA championship victory on Thursday night.

Brandon Reid, 15, was struck under the ear by a gunshot that came through a sliding glass door while visiting his mother in Miramar, Fla.

Reid, who lives in Atlanta, said in a interview with reporters on Saturday that he thought a rock had hit him. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery.
