NBA mock draft: Who will be the No. 1 pick in 2024 NBA Draft?

Unlike last year with Victor Wembanyama, there is no clear consensus No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Many recent NBA mock drafts have different players going No. 1 overall with Serbian guard Nikola Topic, French forward Alexandre Sarr and French wing Zaccharie Risacher among the projected top picks in the draft.

Take a look at what these 2024 NBA mock draft projections say about the first selection in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft on June 26-27.

The Detroit Pistons currently have the worst record in the league, but are not guaranteed the top pick, which is determined in the NBA Draft Lottery.

USA TODAY Sports: Detroit Pistons take French forward Zaccharie Risacher No. 1 overall

Jeff Zillgitt and Scooby Axson write: "Has the scoring ability, size, length, quickness and athleticism teams are seeking in today’s NBA. Quick release on catch-and-shoots, is able to create off the dribble and runs the court well."

Bleacher Report: Detroit Pistons pick French forward Alexandre Sarr with first selection

Jonathan Wasserman writes: Alexandre Sarr may have the best case right now at No. 1 with physical tools, pro-level production and translatable defense that scream high floor, plus flashes of inside-out offensive skills that hint at room to improve and a path to higher scoring upside. His season is over after Perth lost two of three to Tasmania in the NBL semis. At 18 years old, he averaged 9.6 points and 1.5 blocks in 18.0 minutes with 16 made threes in 30 games."

Fansided: San Antonio Spurs select Serbian guard Nikola Topic No. 1 overall

It writes: "Has any team ever drafted for need with the first overall pick? That might happen in the 2024 NBA Draft, especially if the Spurs land the #1 choice. It makes sense for San Antonio, as they already have their franchise centerpiece in place in Victor Wembanyama and now have to build around him. They desperately need a point guard and Topic might be the best one in the draft as a big 6-foot-6 creator who is crafty around the rim. He’s not a great outside shooter or defender, but the Spurs mainly need a point guard who can draw defenders and throw lobs and Topic is very good at both. This would be a reach for the Spurs, and they would likely be able to trade back, pick up an asset and still take Topic, but for pure need alone, he is their guy."

French player Alexandre Sarr of the Perth Wildcats is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA draft in some NBA mock draft projections.

CBS Sports: Detroit Pistons draft Zaccharie Risacher at No. 1

Kyle Boone writes: "Risacher has struggled of late after starting the season hot, in particular cooling after after showing improvement as a shooter. But as we sit here now I'd still project him to be the first pick because of his long-term upside. Wings at 6-9 who can handle and shoot with ease the way he can don't slip far."

Sporting News: Detroit Pistons choose Alexandre Sarr with No. 1 pick

Kyle Irving writes: "Even though the Pistons already have a bruising young center in Jalen Duren, there isn't enough talent on the roster to be drafting for fit. Sarr would give Detroit a high-energy rim protector with more length. The 7-foot center is an athletic and powerful shot-blocking big with budding offensive skills who held his own playing professionally in Australia's NBL overseas."

SB Nation: Detroit Pistons decide on Nikola Topic with first selection

Ricky O'Donnell writes: "Who’s the best prospect in 2024? Ask five people and it’s highly possible you’ll get five different answers. After tracking the progress over this class over several years, SB Nation’s big board has crystalized with Serbian guard Nikola Topic and French big man Alex Sarr at the top. Right behind them are G League Ignite wings Ron Holland and Matas Buzelis, Kentucky guards Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard, and French wing Zaccharie Risacher."
