NBA-Injured Curry to miss first round of playoffs
March 25 (Reuters) - Golden State Warriors shooting artist Stephen Curry will be sidelined for the first round of the playoffs because of his left knee injury, coach Steve Kerr said Sunday.
Kerr made the revelation prior to the team’s game against the Utah Jazz.
"There's no way he's playing in the first round," Kerr told reporters.
"There's no way. I mean, he'll be re-evaluated in three weeks. So, yeah, we have to be ready to play without him and see how he's coming along."
Curry sustained an MCL sprain against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday after returning from a six-game absence due to an ankle injury. The team announced that the All Star will be re-evaluated in three weeks.
The playoffs are set to begin on April 14.
Curry, who is averaging 26.4 points and 6.1 assists per game, also missed playoff action in 2016 due to a knee injury.
"The good thing is we've been through this," Kerr said. "And we also know that Steph has a history of coming back strong from injuries.
"So, there's a good chance, if all goes well, that he comes back during the playoffs at some point and we're at full steam." (Editing by Nick Mulvenney)
