NBA fines Wizards' Morris $15,000

Markieff Morris' brief stint in the Washington Wizards' Friday game against the Atlanta Hawks proved costly.

Morris, ejected less than eight minutes into the contest, was fined $15,000 by the NBA on Sunday for "directing inappropriate comments toward a game official."

The announcement was made by Kiki VanDeWeghe, the league's executive vice president of basketball operations.

Morris received two quick technical fouls in a game the Wizards lost 103-97.

Following the defeat, Washington coach Scott Brooks said of Morris, "You can't get frustrated enough to get thrown out of a game, especially when we're short-handed. He knows that. He's been in this league long enough, and we cannot continue to put ourselves in those positions."

Morris, 28, is averaging 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists though 71 games (all starts) this season.
