Nashville Predators veterans give Filip Forsberg some tips for his next fight

After watching Filip Forsberg drop his gloves Sunday for only the third time in his career, some of his Nashville Predators teammates recently gave him some advice.

"Maybe not to tilt his head forward, that's a start," defenseman Jeremy Lauzon said.

Lauzon, a career pugilist who already has eight fights this season, explained that tilting his head back would provide more protection. In the Predators' 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings, defenseman Moritz Seider landed quite a few punches that could have been prevented, but Lauzon added he was impressed by Forsberg's stamina during the fight.

"When you fight, 10 seconds feels like a minute," Lauzon said.

The bout lasted more than 20 seconds, considerably longer than most NHL fights.

Luke Schenn, who has 84 fights in his career, according to Hockey Fights, said he was impressed by Forsberg's fighting ability, especially because "he hadn't done it in a while." He added he would give Forsberg fighting advice on one condition.

"I told him the only way I would give him fighting advice is if he gives me scoring advice," Schenn joked.

All of Forsberg's teammates agreed the fight was a needed spark in the second period. Forsberg would go on to score the game's only goal, putting home a loose puck with 5:14 left in the third period.

Most of his teammates admitted they would rather see him scoring goals instead of dropping his gloves. Forsberg leads the Predators with 39 goals and has been a crucial element in the team's resurgent offense.

"I told him in the second period intermission that he got the boys going, he fired us up . . . but please don't do it again," Schenn said.
