What Nashville Predators said about Wild's Kirill Kaprizov hit to Alexandre Carrier's head

Kirill Kaprizov did little to make friends in Nashville on Thursday night.

The Minnesota Wild left winger's hit on Predators defenseman Alexandre Carrier during the first period was the reason.

Kaprizov introduced his left shoulder to Carrier's head behind the Nashville net, sending Carrier down the tunnel and out for the rest of the 6-1 Predators loss in former coach John Hynes' return to Bridgestone Arena.

Here's what the Predators had to say about the hit, for which Kaprizov received only a minor interference penalty.

Roman Josi

On the hit

"I thought it was a bad hit. He's in a vulnerable position and there's no reason for Kaprizov to hit him there, hits him right in the head. Those are the kind of hits you don't want in the game."

On the penalty

"Things happen quick out there. It's tough for them to see sometimes. We get all the replays. I don't blame them."

Ryan O'Reilly

"I didn't see the hit but I was talking to the refs. They said there was head contact. It should have been reviewed. I asked them to review it. I don't know if they made a mistake or not. Obviously a dangerous play."

Coach Andrew Brunette

“I didn’t like it at all. I thought it was a little predatory hit to the head, obviously. I think they talked and probably didn’t see the hit that well. I know the rule that you can give a five (minute major) and look at it.”
