Murray County falls at Fannin in region contest

Oct. 20—After a two-game Region 7-2A losing streak, Fannin County High School bounced back against Murray County.

The Murray Indians fell 42-14 to the Rebels in Blue Ridge Friday night.

Murray County (1-7, 0-4 Region 7-2A) Fannin County (4-4, 2-2 Region 7-2A).

Fannin had lost its last two region games by a combined four points, falling 28-27 to Model and 31-28 to North Murray.

The Rebels left no doubt against Murray, cruising to a 42-7 halftime lead.

Murray's Judah Woodall scored two touchdowns, rushing for one and passing for another. He passed for 81 yards while hitting on 10 of his 16 attempts. Parker Hawkins totaled 62 yards on nine receptions.

Braylon Myers rushed nine times for 27 yards, and Woodall added 23 yards on the ground.

Murray County hasn't caught a break with the way its region schedule has shaped up. The first four games in the region have been against what look like the four playoff teams in succession, ending with Fannin Friday.

The schedule gets a little more manageable during the next two weeks, both home games for Murray County.Murray hosts Haralson County on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before closing with winless Gordon Central the following week.
