Saturday's high school results: Marlington volleyball defeats Jackson for first time

AREA ROUNDUP

MARLINGTON VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS DOUBLEHEADER

The Marlington volleyball team swept two matches against Jackson and Nordonia and earned the first victory over the Polar Bears in program history in the process. Marlington defeated Nordonia 25-15, 25-7 and 26-24. The Dukes later defeated Jackson 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-19.

The two victories also gave Marlington head coach Stephanie Tortola her 199th career win. Janelle Swisher, Chelsea Evanich and Danica Sarchione had 21 service points each for the Dukes. Layne Graffice added 28 kills. Swisher contributed 62 assists. Evanich also had six blocks.

Jackson defeated Nordonia in the other match of the day 25-11, 25-17, 25-13.
