GIRLS BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

  • LAKE 69, GARFIELD 35 Serenitee Johnson surpassed 1,000 career points for Lake, which won its 20th game of the season in a Division I, Northeast 2 sectional semifinal home win. Johnson scored 15 points in the game. Emma Anderson’s 27 points led Lake (20-2) and Paige Marshall added 10 points.

  • LOUISVILLE 61, CLEVELAND HEIGHTS 29 Brooke Haren scored 22 points in leading the host Leopards to a Division I, Northeast 4 sectional semifinal. Barwick added 13 points for Louisville (15-8). The Leopards led 16-5 after one quarter and rolled from there. Beatty nine points

  • MARLINGTON 51, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 38 Chelsea Evanich scored 30 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and made three steals to lead the Dukes to a home win. Marlington (9-13) outscored Central 35-18 in the second half. Evanich, who has 1,468 career points, scored 21 in the second half. Allie Gill added 11 of her 15 points in the second half for the Dukes. Central (8-14) was led by Sarah Belden’s 14 points and Grace Finefrock’s 13.

BOYS BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

  • MALVERN 59, INDIAN VALLEY 52 J'Allen Barrino's 22 points led the unbeaten Hornets to their 20th win of the season, as they overcame an early deficit to win at the IVC Showcase.  Dylan Phillips and Rodney Smith added 11 points apiece for Malvern (20-0), while Mitchell Minor scored 10. Phillips also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Tyson Pryor and Ryker Williams each scored 21 points to lead Indian Valley (17-4). Pryor added six rebounds.

  • EAST CANTON 36, BERLIN HILAND 32 Caleb Shilling scored 18 points and Jaedyn McLeod added 11 in leading the Hornets to a win in the IVC Showcase.

BOYS BASKETBALL HIGHLIGHTS

  • LAKE 76, MASSILLON 65 Chance Casenhiser scored 34 points and in the process became Lake's all-time leading scorer as the host Blue Streaks knocked off Massillon. Casenhiser connected on three 3-pointers and made 11 of 12 free throws on the night. The senior guard now has 1,181 career points, surpassing Eric Coblentz's total of 1,177. Casenhiser also holds Lake's single-game scoring record, scoring 45 in a win over Perry last season. With Friday's win, Lake snaps a seven-game losing streak, improving to 4-16 on the season. No details were available for Massillon (12-8), which has lost five of its last seven games.

  • HOOVER 54, PERRY 41  Hunter Hershberger hit five 3-pointers and scored 21 points as the host Vikings beat Perry in the Federal League finale for both teams. Zac Braucher added 12 points and four steals for Hoover (13-7, 6-6). No details were available for Perry (4-16, 1-11).

  • MINERVA 64, HEARTLAND CHRISTIAN 54 Garrett Gonzalez scored 15 points and Rowen Hoffee scored 14 for the Lions in a home win. Jayden Yerger added 10 points for Minerva (13-9).

  • MARLINGTON 60, GARFIELD 50 Beau Himmelheber and Connor Evanich each scored 15 points in leading the Dukes (10-10) to a win. Evanich also grabbed 10 rebounds. Dylan Heatherington added 10 points for Marlington. Thomas Walker scored 30 to lead Garfield (11-8).

  • NORTHWEST 67, MANCHESTER 60 Ian Ziegler scored a game-high 23 points as Northwest won at home. Chase Badger added 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Tristan Pennington scored 15 points for Northwest (14-6), which finishes its PAC-7 schedule at 10-4. Marko Zuza's 16 points led Manchester, which has lost six straight games to fall to 9-11 overall and 6-7 in the league.

  • EAST CANTON 52, DAVID ANDERSON 34 Audrey Wade totaled 18 points, 10 steals, eight assists and seven rebounds as the Wizards finished the regular season with a win on Senior Night. Anna Baker scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for East Canton (13-9). Kynsie Pero added a career-high 10 points, while Ella Baker went for nine points and 14 rebounds.

WRESTLING HIGHLIGHTS

PERRY 79, GREEN 0 The Panthers clinched their 26th consecutive Federal League title by shutting out Green. Perry wrestlers record nine pins, three technical falls, a major decision and one win by forfeit. Winning by pin for the Panthers were Lincoln Rohr (113 pounds).   • GLENOAK 72, ALLIANCE 47 Ja'Corey Lipkins scored his 1,000th career point on a slam dunk as the Golden Eagles defeated Alliance at Harry Fails Gymnasium. Lipkins scored 27 total points and now has 1,006 points for his career. Jaylen McElroy added 13 points for the Golden Eagles (15-5). J.R. Jackson led Alliance with 20 points.

  • GREEN 77, FIRESTONE 49 Brady Rollyson poured in a school-record 40 points as the Bulldogs rolled at home.  Rollyson, who recently surpassed 1,000 career points, made 12 field goals and 16 of 19 free throws Tuesday for his 40 points. That breaks the previous record of 39 set by Jack Bloom in 1954. Luke Jansen added 10 points for Green (15-4), which clinched a share of the Federal League championship with last week's win against McKinley and can grab the outright title by beating GlenOak at home on Friday.

  • CANTON MCKINLEY 73, BRUSH 69 OT The Bulldogs won in overtime at Memorial Field House to improve to 14-7. No details were reported.

  • CENTRAL CATHOLIC 59, AKRON GARFIELD 35 Luke Vlacovsky scored a game-high 21 points as visiting Central cruised to their fourth straight win. Gavin Layman hit four 3-pointers and scored 12 points for the Crusaders (12-7).

  • MINERVA 59, SPRINGFIELD 48 Garrett Gonzalez had 21 points to lead the Lions to a win on the road.

  • CANTON SOUTH 44, FAIRLESS 32 Julius Kimbrough scored 12 points to give Canton South a PAC-7 road win.
