Forsberg said before the NHL playoffs began that though he had a plan in place for when the baby is born, he was prepared to be unprepared.

"(Plans) probably all go out the door when it's actually happening, anyway, so you have to be prepared," he told The Tennessean.

Forsberg and Alvey announced in an Instagram post in January that they were expecting their first child. One of the photos showed a picture of an ultrasound with a handlebar mustache superimposed on the baby's face.

"Baby Boy Forsberg joining the fun in May 2024," she wrote in a caption next to several photos of her and Forsberg.

Forsberg and Alvey, a country music singer, married in July 2022 in a castle in France.

This season, Forsberg set the franchise record for goals in a single season with 48. He also had 46 assists to set a career high in points.

O'Reilly, whom the Predators signed as a free agent in July, had 26 goals and 43 assists during the regular season.
