Michigan State suspends 4 more players after tunnel altercation

The number of Michigan State players suspended for the tunnel melee after the Spartans’ loss to Michigan on Saturday is up to eight.

The school suspended four more players Tuesday, doubling the original total handed down earlier in the week.

Defensive ends Jacoby Windmon and Brandon Wright and cornerbacks Justin White and Malcolm Jones are suspended indefinitely.

Michigan State had already suspended linebacker Tank Brown, safety Angelo Grose, defensive end Zion Young and cornerback Khary Crump.

“We are transparently working with law enforcement and the Big Ten Conference to evaluate additional facts and evidence surrounding the events in Ann Arbor,” Michigan State AD Alan Haller and head coach Mel Tucker said in a statement. “We will continue to take appropriate action in this matter as we learn more. The student-athlete suspensions will remain in place until the investigations are completed.”

The Spartans are currently 3-5 and will be without the eight players on Saturday when they visit Illinois, which is 7-1 and leads the Big Ten West.

Michigan State has lost 5 of its last 6 games after starting the season with a pair of wins.
