Michigan State guard Max Christie to test NBA pre-draft process

Michigan State Spartans freshman Max Christie announced that will he declare for the 2022 NBA draft while maintaining his remaining collegiate eligibility.

Christie, who was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, averaged 9.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 35 games. He started every game this season and reached double figures 11 times and finished third on the team in scoring.

The 6-foot-6 guard is projected by some to be a second-round pick this year. However, it is expected that Christie will go through the pre-draft process to gain feedback from NBA teams and eventually return to school and improve his overall skillset.

By testing the pre-draft process, Christie will have the opportunity to participate in private workouts with teams. He could also be invited to take part in the draft combine or NBA G League Elite Camp in May from Chicago, Illinois.

The early-entry withdrawal deadline for underclassmen is June 1.
