Michael Jordan makes historic donation to Make-A-Wish foundation
Icon Michael Jordan is set to turn 60 on Feb.17th and to celebrate, he is making a historic donation.
Jordan has donated $10M to the Make-A-Wish foundation, the largest donation ever received by the foundation from an individual. The foundation has been around for 43 years and helps fulfill the wishes of children with a critical illness between the ages of 2+1⁄2 and 18 years old.
The legendary basketball player who played college basketball at North Carolina before going on to have a historic career with the Chicago Bulls released a statement on the donation.
“For the past 34 years, it’s been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids,” Jordan said in a press release. “Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration. I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true.”

Jordan first made a donation to the foundation in 1989 and has granted hundreds of wishes. He was named Make-A-Wish Chief Wish Ambassador in 2008.
