MIAMI GARDENS - Why is Storm Duck named Storm Duck?

The Miami Dolphins recently signed defensive back Storm Duck to an undrafted rookie free agent contract.

Duck will participate in rookie minicamp May 10-11 and, likely, in organized team activities, mandatory minicamp and training camp.

Why is Storm Duck named Storm Duck?

Duck was named after Storm Logan, a character on the soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful."

The Dolphins have had a player named Storm, running back Storm Johnson.

The Dolphins have not had a player named Duck, but they have had some Donalds.

Tight end Donald Lee comes to mind.

What to know about Dolphins rookie Storm Duck

Duck, 23, grew up in South Carolina.

Storm Duck played college football for North Carolina and Louisville.

Duck has a chance, albeit, a bit of a long shot, to make the Dolphins' roster.

Storm Duck was once All-ACC second-team at UNC, when he posted three interceptions in 2022.

According to the Raleigh News & Observer, Duck has an older sister named Tempest, which means a violent storm. She was named after the Cosby Show actress Tempestt Bledsoe.

Phyllis Duck, Storm's mother, told the News & Observer she chose Storm because it's a "beautiful" name that also represents "strength."

Not surprisingly, Storm Duck made the 247 Sports All-Name team in 2023.
