Who is starting for the Mets?

David Peterson takes the mound for New York in his 10th start and has a 2-6 record with a 6.61 ERA.

In his last start, against the San Francisco Giants on July 2, Peterson went just four innings but gave up just one run on three hits, three walks and struck out three. It was his second start since being called up from Triple-A.

His first start was much better, as Peterson went six innings and gave up no runs, five hits and three walks. He struck out five batters against the Milwaukee Brewers in that contest. 

Who is starting for the Padres?

Blake Snell will make his 17th start this season and has a 5-7 record with a 3.03 ERA. He also has 121 strikeouts in 92 innings pitched.

In his last start, July 3 against the Los Angeles Angels, Snell pitched five scoreless innings while giving up seven hits and four walks. He also struck out seven batters. The two starts previous to that one were reminiscent of his Cy Young season.

On June 28 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, he struck out 10 batters while giving up just two runs over six innings. On June 22 against the Giants, he struck out 11 hitters in six scoreless innings.

Upcoming schedule

The Mets wrap up their three-game series, and the unofficial first half of the season, against the Padres on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. on SNY.

RHP Max Scherzer (8-2, 4.03 ERA) will pitch for New York, while San Diego counters with RHP Joe Musgrove. (7-2, 3.56 ERA).
