Mets' Francisco Lindor wins 2023 Silver Slugger award

Mets' Francisco Lindor wins 2023 Silver Slugger award

He may not have won a Gold Glove, but Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is a Silver Slugger once again.

MLB announced the Gold Glove winners for the 2023 season on Thursday and the 29-year-old won it for the National League.

This past season was a great one for the Mets shortstop. First, he became the first Met since Carlos Beltran to put together a 30-30 season with 31 homers and 31 stolen bases. He also finished with 108 runs scored, 33 doubles, 98 RBI, and a .806 OPS.

Lindor had some stiff competition for the award as Xander Bogaerts, Dansby Swanson and Trea Turner were all finalists for the award.

Mets first baseman Pete Alonso was also named a finalist for his position, but the award went to the Braves' Matt Olson.

This is Lindor's third career Sliver Slugger. He won his first two as a member of the then-Cleveland Indians. The first was in 2017 when he finished with a slashline of .273/.337/.505 with 33 home runs and 89 RBI. He would repeat in 2018 when he slashed .277/.352/.519 with 38 homers (a career high) and 92 RBI.
