Meet our newest Seacoast High School Athletes of the Week winners

In the second edition of Athlete of the Week for the 2022 fall season, Marshwood High School football player Ty Cougler and York High School field hockey player Hadley Cucco submitted exceptional performances last week to earn girls and boys Athlete of the Week for Sept. 5-10.

Cougler joins last week's winner St. Thomas Aquinas soccer player Owen Simas as the fall winners so far on the boys side, while Cucco joins Dover field hockey player Erin Lynch who won the girls honor last week.

The weekly poll runs Monday through midnight Thursday and can be found at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports. Winners will be posted each Friday.

Cougler secured over 40% of the online vote, with a total of 766.

Following Cougler were Marshwood golfer Noah Fitzgerald (708), Exeter football player Ethan Moss (154), York soccer player Nick Mauro (142) and Winnacunnet soccer player Tanyon Ziolkowski round out the top five.

With Marshwood looking to get to .500, Ty Cougler scored four touchdowns in a 49-26 win over Noble. He rushed for 99 yards on eight carries (12.4 yards per carry) with two rushing touchdowns. He also scored on a 50-yard reception and returned an interception for a score.

Cucco dominated the online poll with just over 50%, a total of 536 votes.

Following Cucco were Marshwood field hockey player Brooke Salvail (271), Oyster River soccer player Elizabeth Walent (148), Traip Academy soccer player Keira Alessi (62) and Somersworth volleyball player Savannah Comeau (29).

Cucco had two goal as the York High School field hockey team beat Lake Region, 4-0, Wednesday in a Class B South contest.

"Hadley is picking up where she left off form last year with strong and steady play, and stepping inter her role as a leader this year," York head coach Barb Marois said. "She is finding ways to contribute all over the field. I am proud of her!"
