Projo's All-State Athletes: Here are the best winter high school athletes in RI

2023 Providence Journal All-State Girls Hockey First Team

Eliza Barker, La Salle

Sophomore, Forward

A second-team All-State selection as a freshman, Barker immediately established herself as one of the state’s best players last winter. Barker led the talented Rams in goals (14) and assists (12) and her 26 points were good for third in the state. Her return next winter will make her a player to watch and have La Salle ready to contend for a title.

Keira Goffe, SCM

Sophomore, Forward

In two seasons Goffe has managed to guide SCM to two titles and earned herself a second-straight spot as a first-team All-Stater. Goffe — from the Smithfield part of the three-school co-op — was second in the state in goals (17) and second in points (27), and her playmaking showed up during the Sentinels run to the state title. She’ll enter next season as the state’s top player as SCM tries to go back-to-back.

Allie Trimble, Burrillville

Senior, Forward

Trimble certainly had a career that won’t be forgotten. After guiding the Broncos to the state title last year — and earning Providence Journal Player of the Year honors — she finished her senior season as one of the state’s top offensive playmakers with 12 goals and eight assists — and helped Burrillville reach the state semifinals.

Michaela Bucci, South County

Junior, Defense

Bucci was a second-team All-Division selection last year but took her game to new heights this season and nearly helped the Storm earn a spot in the state title game. Bucci — from North Kingstown — helped South County become one of the best defenses in the state this year and should only be better next season.

Lauren Falls, SCM

Senior, Defense

A second-team selection last winter, it wasn’t hard to see why Falls — from the Smithfield portion of the three-school co-op — made the leap to the first team this season. The senior’s play in the back was crucial to the team’s journey to the state title, giving Falls two championships to close her career.

Mary Centracchio, Warwick

Senior, Goaltender

It’s hard to image a player who did more for her team this season than Centracchio. While Warwick won only three games last season, their senior goalie gave them a chance in every one. She led the state with a .944 save percentage, making a Rhode Island-best 584 stops on a state-most 625 shots.
