Making an impact: 53 Corpus Christi-area high school softball players to watch in 2024
The high school softball season has reached the point where teams are playing in their preseason scrimmages to figure out lineups, pitching rotations and more as the regular season begins next week.
As the season dawns, and hopefully the weather warms up, here is a look at some players that can make an impact this season, plus a list of players to watch this season for Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend.

Yes, Almaraz is finally a senior and now has a state championship ring to defend. A key part of the Wildcats’ deep lineup.
C Alyssa Burdge, sr., Veterans Memorial
Burdge is arguably the area’s top catcher and will be key of the Eagles want to unseat Flour Bluff at district champs.
IF DeeAndra Maldonado, sr., Alice
One of the returners for an Alice team that has high expectations after a district championship season but must fill some big spots.
OF Aylah Mata, sr., Carroll
The versatilite Mata has been part of the Tigers program for four years with hopes of earning a district title.
