LSU baseball live score updates vs Nicholls: Off first SEC series win, can Tigers get hot?
LSU baseball is entering this next week, and its midweek showdown with in-state foe Nicholls, on territory it has yet to chart this season.
The Tigers (25-16) won their first Southeastern Conference series on the year, taking two of three games at Missouri this past weekend, after dropping the first five league series. It was the first time in 47 seasons LSU went through a slump like that.
Despite the rough weekends in SEC play before Missouri, those performances in three-game sets hadn't bothered the Tigers in their midweeks contests. LSU has gone 4-1 in midweek games since conference play started, and it's won two of those by run-rule.
Nicholls (27-14) comes into the game at Alex Box Stadium on Tuesday night on a three-game win streak and is 10-7 on the road this season.
First baseman Edgar Alvarez leads the Colonels' lineup batting .423 with nine homers, 51 RBIs, 49 runs scored and has a .533 on-base percentage. Nicholls has a 5.42 team ERA on the mound as 12 different pitchers have won at least one game this season.
