Looking for tickets to the Packers-Cowboys playoff game? Here's what you need to know

GREEN BAY ‒ The Packers drawing the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs spurred a jump in ticket prices for the game.

The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 17-9 on Sunday to secure the final NFC playoff spot and will play the Cowboys at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will be broadcast on Fox.

The average get-in price on Monday was $292, a $59 increase from before the Packers' game against the Bears, when the time and date, and whether Green Bay would even be in the playoffs, was not known. The price is determined by surveying 11 secondary marketplaces and does not include standing room only tickets.

Green Bay Packers center Josh Myers (71) and guard Elgton Jenkins (74) double team Dallas Cowboys defensive end Carlos Watkins (91) during their game Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Green Bay Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 31-28 in overtime.

AT&T Stadium, which can be expanded to more than 100,000 capacity for playoff games, also offers many standing room only tickets, the cheapest of which were going for $135 on the secondary market.

Secondary marketplace TicketSmarter said the Packers-Cowboys game had the most available tickets of all the wild card round games and the average ticket price was about $850. It said the get-in price on its site was just short of $200, which includes standing room only tickets.

Secondary marketplace Vivid Seats pegged the average price at $454, and said it was the sixth most in-demand Cowboys ticket since 2008.

The most expensive playoff game Monday was Los Angeles at Detroit at about $900 average ticket price, according to TicketSmarter. The get-in price was about $500. The least expensive game was Miami at Kansas City with an average price of $400. The lowest get-in price was Pittsburgh at Buffalo at about $150.

Vivid Seats concurred that Los Angeles-Detroit was the hottest ticket this weekend, putting the average at $625 and the get-in at $404. Packers-Cowboys, which Vivid Seats said had a get-in price of $245, was second most in-demand of the weekend.

Dennis Garrity, president of Ashwaubenon-based ticket and tour company Event USA, said they'd received many inquiries about the game. Event USA was finalizing packages for the game on Monday.

Green Bay vs. Dallas in the playoffs is a storied matchup dating to the Vince Lombardi era. The teams first met in the playoffs in the NFL championship game in 1967 that ended the 1966 season. The Packers won in Dallas and again at the end of that year at Lambeau Field in the Ice Bowl, one of the most historic playoff games in NFL history.

In the early 1990s, the Cowboys were a frustrating roadblock to the Brett Favre-led Packers. Dallas won eight consecutive games against the Packers, including three in the playoffs.

The Packers and Cowboys are 4-4 in playoff games against each other, including three NFL or NFC championship games. The Packers won two of those under Lombardi and the Cowboys won one at the end of the 1995 season.

What matters about this game? It's the playoffs, so that speaks for itself. The 9-8 Packers will go into this game as underdogs, but a good showing would put an exclamation point on what has been a better season than most Green Bay fans expected. A victory would turn this into an exceptional season, given the turnover in Green Bay's roster, not to mention its standing as the youngest team in the NFL, and one of the youngest ever to make the playoffs.

This will be the second time the Packers face former head coach Mike McCarthy, who led Green Bay to a Super Bowl victory in 2011. McCarthy had some painful playoff experiences in Dallas, but he turned that team around overall. The Packers played the Cowboys under McCarthy and won 31-28 in overtime at Lambeau Field in 2022. The Packers are 9-1 against the Cowboys since 2009.
