Look Who’s Getting a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
American Idol winner-turned-country superstar Carrie Underwood will have her name etched in stone next year, when she joins the recently announced Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2018. However, before the “Blown Away” singer preserves her handprints and enshrines her name into Hollywood history, she’s set to receive another important accolade in November: an induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.
Underwood has been on a well-deserved winning streak for nearly a decade. Just in the last year and a half alone, the country powerhouse vocalist headlined a major tour, notched her 24th No. 1 hit single, made a few Grand Ole Opry appearances, and cheered on her husband Mike Fisher during the Nashville Predators’ regular season and the NHL playoffs. Not to mention, she'll be returning to the 2017 CMA Awards stage again to co-host with Brad Paisley, and we’ll hear her singing NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song for the second time around later this year.
Needless to say, her calendar is booked, and rightfully so, which is why this spot on Hollywood’s most famous sidewalk comes at just the right moment in Underwood's career. She’s only one of seven musicians to be honored in the recording category, along with Louisiana-based actor and jazz singer, Harry Connick, Jr. Of course, we'd be remiss not to include our favorite cartoon character and Disney resident, Minnie Mouse, who is also receiving a coveted star.
Even though the Oklahoma is the only country artist to be included this year, she joins the ranks of many A-list country singers, all of who left a lasting impression on fans (and in wet cement), including Brooks & Dunn, Garth Brooks, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Loretta Lynn, Rascal Flatts, Shania Twain, and Hank Williams.

Honorees are selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Selection Committee. Stay tuned for the specific date of the ceremony to see Underwood sign one of her most important autographs ever that will be eternally preserved on the California landmark.
