Week 4 South Shore high school football scores and highlights

Week 4 of the high school football season marks the start of league play for several area teams.

And boy do we have big ones to kick things off. Abington vs. Norwell (South Shore League Sullivan) and Weymouth vs. Milton (Bay State Herget) pits undefeated teams against one another. Hanover and Plymouth South are two of the favorites in the Patriot League Fisher Division.

Hingham and Plymouth North kick off the action on Thursday night. The Harbormen are still searching for their first win, while the Blue Eagles are a pleasant surprise at 2-1.

Thursday

Hingham 28, Plymouth North 8: Will St. Pierre (218 yards) ran for a pair of late touchdowns as the Harbormen got their first win of the season on the road. Jake Varholak threw a TD pass to Jack Nicholas in the third quarter to put the Harbormen ahead for good, 14-8. Hingham took a 7-0 lead into halftime on Chase Beighley's 16-yard TD run in the second quarter. North answered when Shamus Whiting threw a 25-yard TD pass to Brennan Keefe in the third quarter. A 2-point conversion gave the Blue Eagles an 8-7 lead.

Friday

West Boylston 52, Blue Hills 14: The Warriors drop to 2-2.

Braintree 44, Quincy 16: James Curry finished with 200 rushing yards on 32 carries and 4 TDs for the Wamps (3-1). Sophomore Ethan Elie and junior Sean Canavan each finished with a touchdown of their own. Quarterback/kicker Garoid Stones threw a TD pass and kicked a field goal and five extra points. The Presidents drop to 2-2.

Marshfield 33, Bridgewater-Raynham 7: The Rams improve to 2-2 while the Trojans fall to 0-4. Tor Maas threw three TD passes and ran for another in the win. Reid Bergamesca (58 and 10 yards) hauled in two of those TD passes while Charlie Carrol (32) had the other. Davin True ran for a 1-yard TD.

Monomoy 25, Holbrook/Avon 22: The Bulldogs drop to 2-2.

Carver 50, Martha's Vineyard 12: The Crusaders (4-0) were led by Tyler Lennox's four TD passes. Derek Lopes and Robbie Peterson each had a pair of TD receptions. Lennox was 13 of 18 passing for 230 yards. Peterson also had a rushing TD. Jameson Helms (10 touches for 133 yards) rushed for a TD while Nathan Helms returned a kick for a TD. Tyler Swain made 17 tackles, including two for a loss and a sack.

East Bridgewater 28, Seekonk 8: Logan Williams had a 49-yard TD catch on a pass from Ethan Pohl and returned an interception 65 yards for a score for the Vikings (2-2). Aidan Clancy added TD runs of 7 and 4 yards. Tim Heath was 4 of 4 on extra-point kicks.

Mashpee 24, Randolph 8: The Blue Devils drop to 1-2.

Rockland 28, Falmouth 6: Jordan DePina ran for four TDs and 170 yards for the Bulldogs (4-0). Joe Earner added 97 yards on the ground.

West Bridgewater 35, Brighton 8: James Harris ran for three TDs while Ty Holmes had two for the Wildcats (2-2).

Norwell 27, Abington 7: The Clippers (4-0) defeated the Green Wave (3-1) in the battle of unbeatens. Will Bostrom ran for two TDs while Jackson Adams intercepted a pass and scored a TD on offense.

Everett 35, BC High 34: Everett scored the winning TD with four seconds remaining to hand the Eagles (3-1) their first loss of the season. Kise Flannery ran for a TD and threw two more for BC High.

Whitman-Hanson 28, Silver Lake 25: The Panthers improve to 3-1 while the Lakers fall to 0-4. Ryan Nash ran for a TD and threw two more in the win. His TD throw to Brady Markowski with less than 2 minutes left sealed the victory. Cam Beltramini ran for a TD and had a TD reception. Tim Brown (11 tackles, 2 TFL, fumble forced and recovered) and Johnny Walker (13 tackles) led the way defensively.

Southeastern 47, Southbridge 0: The Hawks improve to 3-1.

Bristol-Plymouth 20, South Shore Tech 18 (OT): The Vikings (2-2) rallied from a 12-0 deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Todd Egan had a pair of rushing TDs and finish with 93 yards on the ground and 61 yards passing. DJ Decoste ran for a 5-yard TD.

Hanover 42, Plymouth South 7: The Hawks improve to 4-0 while the Panthers drop to 2-2. Casious Johnson became the town of Plymouth's all-time leading rusher in the loss. Ben Scalzi (18 of 27 passing, 260 yards) threw three TD passes (one to Sebastian Brown, two to John McDonald). McDonald (11 receptions, 148 yards) had a pair of receiving TDs and ran for another score. Marvin Felix (45 yards) and Vinny Mancini (35) had long TD runs. Lucas Swift threw a 70-yard TD pass to Nick Kudrikow.

Middleboro 34, Sandwich 15: The Sachems improve to 3-1.

Stoughton 28, Oliver Ames 0: The Black Knights (1-3) pick up their first win of the season while OA drops to 0-4. Jarred Daughtry threw four TDs in the victory.

Milton 31, Weymouth 7: QB Patrick Miller threw 18-yard TD passes to Ronan Sammon and Luke Haley and ran for a 1-yard score for Milton (4-0). A.J. Cicerone had a 18-yard TD run, and Aidan Rowley kicked a 24-yard field goal. For Weymouth (3-1), Andrew DelGallo caught a 19-yard TD pass from Tyler Nordstrom. Anthony Smith rushed 16 times for 100 yards in the loss, and Cam Aieta added 14 carries for 70 yards.

Scituate 35, Pembroke 12: The Sailors improve to 2-2 while the Titans fall to 1-3. Will Robinson (11 carries for 120 yards) had TD runs of 13 and 55 yards and returned an interception 53 yards for a score. Jackson Belsan threw a 19-yard TD pass to Charlie Hartwell, and Alex Burrill add a 7-yard TD run. Will Johnson ran for two TDs for the Titans.

Brockton 14, Lawrence 7: The Boxers (1-3) picked up their first win with Jermaine Wiggins as coach. Cam Monteiro had a late interception to seal the win. Jaden Campbell and Luke Turco rushed for TDs.

Mansfield 25, Canton 0: The Bulldogs drop to 1-2.

North Quincy 20, Cohasset 14: The Raiders improve to 2-2 while the Skippers drop to 2-2. Mike Galligan threw a pair of TD passes to Nate Sampson (42 and 2 yards) and ran for a 2-yard TD in the win. Sampson sealed the victory with an interception with seven seconds remaining. He also deflected two passes. Brody Baker blocked a field goal with 6:29 remaining to set up the Raiders for the winning drive. Michael Wildfire threw TD passes to Jack Cullinan (10 yards) and Liam Appleton (27 yards) in the loss.

Saturday

Cardinal Spellman 18, Cathedral 12: Matt O'Donnell sealed the win and a 4-0 start for the Cardinals with a late interception. Spellman climbed out of a 12-0 deficit behind a pair of O'Donnell TD runs and an O'Donnell-Jay Comeau TD connection.

Bishop Feehan 31, Archbishop Williams 6: The Bishops drop to 2-2.
