LeBron James bombarded with 'Kobe's better' chant from Hawks fans

The Atlanta Hawks haven’t played well, but their fans have been bringing their A-game all season. Hawks fans may have peaked Tuesday after letting LeBron James know his place in the Los Angeles Lakers hierarchy.

Their verdict: He’s not as good as Kobe Bryant.

Hawks fans taunted James by chanting “Kobe’s better” while James was shooting free throws.

Based on that short clip, the Hawks may have gotten into James’ head. He did miss that free-throw attempt. The chant didn’t work that often, though, as James finished the contest 9-of-11 from the line.

He also put up 28 points, which wasn’t enough to led the Lakers to a win. The team was defeated by the Hawks on Tuesday 117-113.

The James-vs.-Bryant debate lit up Twitter in the weeks following James’ decision to sign with the Lakers. One fan wouldn’t allow a picture of James’ face to exist on a mural of Bryant. And a number of fans wouldn’t allow a mural of James to exist in Los Angeles at all.

That debate has mostly died down during the season, as James has performed well when healthy. Hawks fans likely won’t resurrect that argument, but they get bonus points for trying — and for coming up with another excellent chant.
