Lakers vs. Suns: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks

Chris Paul, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday afternoon, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 10 p.m. ET and can be seen on Spectrum SportsNet (LAL) and Fox Sports Southeast (ATL).

Los Angeles are poised with quite the challenge. This will be the first game since LeBron James’ high ankle sprain, which will leave the Lakers without either stars James or Anthony Davis.

Phoenix bounced back after a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves to beat them, though it was another ugly game for the Suns, who are now 27-13.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Lakers +10

  • Money line: Lakers -375 / Suns -500

  • Over-under: 214.5

Advice and prediction

The Suns may have stumbled in back-to-back games against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but it’s hard to see the Lakers taking down a team that has emerged as one of the best in the league.

With James on the court, Los Angeles offense is 8.7 points per 100 possessions better and the defense is 4.5 points per 100 possessions better, according to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha. Without James or Davis, they have a net rating of -3.0, according to Nets Daily reporter Alec Sturm.

Without their offensive consistency, the strong Suns defense led by Mikal Bridges can take advantage. Without the defense of James and Davis, Paul and Booker can run the show. If neither Marc Gasol nor Montrezl Harrell can handle Deandre Ayton, it’s over, though Ayton has been very up-and-down aggressively and a strong performance is far from certain.

I’m not confident enough in Los Angeles’ chances to recommend betting on them covering the spread. With Phoenix averaging about 114 points per game, the teams may be able to hit the over on points.

Prediction: Suns 115, Lakers 101
