Lakers' Ball (knee) set for MRI on Thursday

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball will undergo a precautionary MRI on his left knee Thursday.

Ball exited the Lakers' win over the Mavericks on Wednesday with a knee contusion suffered after knocking knees with Dirk Nowitzki in the third quarter. He did not return, finishing the game with eight points, four rebounds and five assists.

"I'm not (concerned)," Ball told reporters postgame. "Think it is just a bruise to the back of my leg. Should be OK. I have [experienced this before], it is like a dead leg but not in the spot that I have it right now."

Ball missed 15 straight games earlier this season with a sprained MCL in his left knee. He made his return from the injury against the Mavericks on Feb. 23.

"It wasn't in the spot that I previously hurt that caused me to miss a lot of games, so I wasn't too worried about it," Ball said. "It's just kind of like a bruise. It just hurts, but I should be back soon."

The 20-year-old rookie is averaging 10.2 points, 7.2 assists and 6.9 rebounds in 52 games for the Lakers, who have already been eliminated from the playoffs.
