LA Rams provide update on status of former Georgia football quarterback Stetson Bennett
Former Georgia football quarterback Stetson Bennett is unlikely to play for the Los Angeles Rams this season, coach Sean McVay told reporters Monday.
"I'm not ready to say that he won't be back with us at all this year, but it's probably less likely than it is likely he would be," McVay told reporters Monday.
The Rams placed Bennett, a fourth-round draft pick after leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back national titles, on the reserve/non-football injury list in September.
No details about the move were provided by McVay at the time.

“There are certain things that I think are a little bit bigger and more important, and out of respect for the particulars and the specifics, (I) want to be able to keep it in-house,” McVay said, according to the Associated Press.
Bennett went 17-for-29 for 191 yards and a touchdown pass in his first preseason game, and finished 36 of 62 for 347 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions during the preseason. He missed the Rams' regular season opener with what was described at the time as a shoulder injury before being placed on the the reserve/non-football injury list.
Bennett was arrested for public intoxication Jan. 29 while training in Dallas for the NFL draft.
He said at the NFL combine: “I have confidence in my abilities. There’s so much more to playing quarterback than people know … Especially at the quarterback position, the mental acuity and how you can handle certain situations, you can’t really measure that.”
The Rams are dealing with an injury to another former Georgia football quarterback. Matthew Stafford has a sprained ligament in his right thumb and could miss time.
“There’s obviously some swelling and some bruising,” McVay said. “It’s a significant part of being able to throw the football, and this is an injury that he’s previously had, so there’s some scar tissue. There’s a lot of things to it, but it’s really about (seeing) what happens in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
