Knicks rookie Kevin Knox suffered ankle injury, helped off court against Celtics
New York Knicks rookie Kevin Knox suffered an ankle injury Saturday night late in the first quarter against the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden.
Knox was driving to the basket on a fast break while being guarded by Terry Rozier when he rolled his left ankle completely in the middle of the lane. He was then helped off the court without putting any weight on his left ankle and taken to the locker room to be further evaluated.
Rozier was called for a foul on the play, and Mitchell Robinson entered the game to shoot the foul shots. Knox will not return.

The X-rays on Knox’s ankle came back negative, the team announced, which is a good sign for the Knicks.

Knox, who was selected ninth overall in the 2018 NBA draft, dropped 17 points and had six rebounds in the Knicks’ loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night — his second career NBA game.
Many expected the 19-year-old to carry a significant load for the franchise early this season while star Kristaps Porzingis is still recovering from an ACL injury. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 15.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game last season at Kentucky, where he helped lead the Wildcats to a Sweet 16 berth.
