Kirk Herbstreit shares health news that will keep him away from NFL draft coverage

Most people recognize Kirk Herbstreit from his 26 years at ESPN, but Ohio State fans may remember him as the starting quarterback during the 1992 season. The longtime ESPN fixture was set to be an important part of the network’s draft coverage, but unfortunately, his doctors discovered a blood clot and he is now forced to miss the event.

Herbstreit announced his decision to miss the NFL Draft on Twitter “out of an abundance of caution.” I don’t think anyone blames the 52-year-old for taking time to get healthy, especially considering he has an upcoming football season that will now include calling NFL games for Amazon.

We, of course, wish Herbie the best and hope he has a safe and speedy recovery.
