Keenan Bailey will replace Kevin Wilson as Ohio State football tight ends coach
Keenan Bailey will be promoted to tight ends coach to replace Kevin Wilson, Ohio State confirmed on Saturday.
Tulsa hired Wilson, who’s OSU’s offensive coordinator as well as tight ends coach, as its head coach on Monday. Wilson will remain with the Buckeyes until their season ends.
Bailey has been with the Ohio State program for seven years. His current title is senior advisor to head coach Ryan Day after serving for three years as a quality-control coach, primarily working with quarterbacks and wide receivers.
Bailey is well-regarded inside the program. Tight end Cade Stover raved about Bailey’s help this past offseason when Stover transitioned back to tight end. He said they worked at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center three nights a week.

“We’d come here and work on the basics – footwork on breaks, different kind of speed cuts, different moves, and hand work,” Stover said.
“I have no words to describe how much that guy means to me and this place itself. He’s a lot of guys’ outlet. He’s here for our players. He has an awesome, super-good mind, and he’s genuine. There’s no gray area with him whatsoever."

Bailey has been with Ohio State since 2016. The Notre Dame graduate joined the OSU staff as an offensive intern working with running backs. He moved to tutoring wide receivers in 2017 and quarterbacks in 2019.
C.J. Stroud, who finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting on Saturday, credited Bailey for helping him learn the Buckeyes’ offense.
"He's such a great guy," Stroud said. "He's a God-fearing man. He's a great husband. I really appreciate him for everything he does," Stroud said. "A lot of late nights, early mornings. A lot of times during games, he’s showing me things no one else sees – little nuances and things like that. He’s been amazing.
"No one in the building works harder than him. I’m super happy for him. I’m super excited to see what he does in that room. I think that room will be very dynamic. Because he has a receivers background, so they’ll be doing things a lot of people haven’t seen before."
