Jrue Holiday bids farewell to Milwaukee: 'We will forever be champions together.'

Now-former Milwaukee Bucks point guard Jrue Holiday took to Instagram on Thursday to bid farewell to Milwaukee, the place he helped bring the 2021 NBA championship. One day earlier, Holiday was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a deal that brought star point guard Damian Lillard to the Bucks.

"Thank you fans! For those who know me best, they know we are all about family," Holiday said. "Milwaukee — you welcomed me and my family into your city, into your homes, into your hearts. We will forever be champions together, and me and my family will forever be grateful and thankful. Until next time, thanks for everything."

Holiday's impact both on and off the court was deeply felt in Milwaukee after his late 2020 arrival. His difference-making endeavors have extended to multiple charitable ventures undertaken by Jrue and his wife, Lauren, including the JLH fund to support Black and Brown businesses.

Of course, he was also one of the league's best defensive players and is responsible for co-authoring one of the most memorable moments of the 2021 postseason.

It bears mentioning that this won't be the last the Bucks hear from Holiday. The Blazers are expected to deal Holiday, likely for additional draft capital, and there's a chance he ends up playing for a Milwaukee rival. ESPN's Brian Windhorst floated the Boston Celtics, a team that stands to be the top contender with Milwaukee for the Eastern Conference title, as a possible destination.
