Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson emphasize impact of 'remarkable' Knicks fans at MSG ahead of Heat series

Apr 21, 2023; New York, New York, USA; New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson (11) controls the ball against Cleveland Cavaliers guards Caris LeVert (3) and Donovan Mitchell (45) and center Jarrett Allen (31) during the fourth quarter of game three of the 2023 NBA playoffs at Madison Square Garden.

After finishing off the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games, the Knicks earned the benefits of home court advantage in the second round when the eighth-seeded Miami Heat upset the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. As a result, New York would host a potential Game 7 in a renewed playoff rivalry.

Throughout this season, the Knicks have thrived in their home environment inside Madison Square Garden with a 32-20 home record during the regular season. New York also took both home games in the series win over Cleveland, including a 20-point victory in Game 3.

Players such as Jalen Brunson continue to recognize the energy Knicks fans have brought to the home floor throughout this latest run.

“Knicks fans are remarkable,” Brunson said. “I could use so many adjectives to describe them. It’s been really special to see. Knicks fans have been nothing short of amazing.”

In the short time in orange and blue since joining the team in a midseason trade, Josh Hart highlighted the expectations for the home crowd in another battle of a playoff series.

“These playoff games are tough,” Hart said. “We need MSG to be rocking even more than the last two games. We need them every game we have them. We feed off that energy.”

Entering Sunday’s opening matchup against Miami, the Knicks have won 12 of their last 15 games at Madison Square Garden and look to ride momentum at home toward a berth in the Eastern Conference finals.
