Josh Gordon says goodbye to Cleveland on Instagram: 'Anybody need a deep threat WR?'
Josh Gordon’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns will likely go down as one of the most riveting, mercurial and ultimately tragic sagas in the city’s colorful sports history, but that doesn’t mean the wide receiver hasn’t seen his last NFL snap.
Gordon confirmed he was leaving the Browns by posting a goodbye on his Instagram story saying Cleveland will always feel like home to him and thanking the organization for having him. He followed that note up with a postscript asking if any team needs a deep-threat wide receiver.

The Browns shocked the NFL Saturday when they announced they intended to release the brilliant but troubled Gordon amid reports that he injured his hamstring at a promo shoot and was “not himself” when he showed up to team facilities.
The move will end a six-year tenure for Brown in Cleveland in which he posted over 75 receiving yards per game and an All-Pro season in 2013, but also received numerous drug-related suspensions.
Despite Gordon’s breathtaking amount of red flags and off-field issues, there should be plenty of receiver-needy teams eager take him up on his postscript offer. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Browns are “far more likely” to trade Gordon rather than release him. Additionally, thanks to some interesting service time rules, Gordon would immediately hit free agency rather than go through waivers if the Browns cut him loose.
Once that happens, Gordon will leave behind a very complicated legacy in Cleveland.
