Josh Allen with a Throw of the Year candidate to give the Bills back the lead

Say what you want about Josh Allen, but the man can certainly throw a football.

The Kansas City Chiefs are finding that out the hard way this evening.

After the Chiefs used a bunch of creativity pre-snap to take the lead in the second quarter, Allen and the Bills came right back down the field. It would be Emmanuel Sanders on the receiving end of one of the best throws you will see if not this weekend, this year:

What stands out about this play is how well Allen moves in the pocket while flashing his eyes to the right side of the field, before coming back to the left to find a streaking Sanders deep downfield. Thanks to the “dots” from NFL’s Next Gen Stats, we can see how that impacted the coverage:

You can see how Allen moves #22 (safety Juan Thornhill) to the middle of the field, which creates space for Sanders on his vertical route. Then, the quarterback drops in an absolute dime.

Of course, the guy on the other sideline is no slouch either when it comes to throwing a football. So while Allen’s throw is the best right now, there is a lot of football left to be played in Kansas City.
