John Wall spent a half million on Rolexes for Wizards teammates

John Wall has been one of the most generous players in the league for nearly a decade. It says something about his unselfish game that he’s averaging a career-low 8.6 assists per game this season and still ranks fourth in the NBA. His generosity extended off the court this holiday season when he surprised all 15 of his Wizards teammates with luxury Rolex watches.

The “President” Rolex model is one of the brand’s most luxurious time piece designs and was dubbed the “President” because President Dwight Eisenhower wore a version.

Overall, the price tag on his President Rolex giveaway cost somewhere around $40,000 apiece, or a hefty $600,000 in total, although that doesn’t factor in the additional costs of getting a watch manufactured to fit over Marcin Gortat’s barrel-sized wrists. Of course, Wall has the wherewithal to spend that type of dough after signing a four-year, $170 million extension this summer.

On the court, Wall is in the midst of arguably the most underwhelming start to a season of his career. In the long run, the greatest gift Wall can give the Wizards organization is to finish 2017 strong and live up to the MVP expectations that he set for himself in 2018.
