Jimmies women's hockey beats Colorado, men's hockey beats NIU

Oct. 15—JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown women's hockey team pushed their winning streak out to three games as they got a 4-2 win over the University of Colorado on Saturday, Oct. 14, at John L. Wilson Arena

The Jimmies' Samantha Mueller scored midway through the first to take a 1-0 lead before Kiran Vugteveen scored her sixth goal of the season and her fifth goal in the last two games to push her team's lead out to 2-0.

The score stayed that way until early in the second period when Crystal Wale got her third goal of the season to push the Jimmies' lead out to 3-0. The Buffaloes (1-3) got one back in the period but the Jimmies lead went right back out to a three-goal lead thanks to Jayden Baker. The Buffaloes scored one goal in the third but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback.

The Jimmies (3-1) outshot the Buffaloes 47-22 in the win.

The Jimmies are back in action at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, when they go to Concordia College.

DEKALB, IL. — The University of Jamestown men's hockey team's incendiary offense stayed hot as they got a 13-0 win over Northern Illinois University on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Huskies' Canlan Sports.

The Jimmies (5-2) turned to Reid Wilson to open the scoring in the first period before adding two more in the period to take a 3-0 lead into the second frame. The Jimmies added two more in the second including one by Brad Fortin to head into the third period up 4-0. The team exploded in the third period for eight goals starting with Fortin 3:54 into the frame. Fortin added two more in the period to complete the hat trick. It is the sophomore's first career hat trick.

Over the last three games the Jimmies have outscored their opponents 28-0.

The Wolves (0-8-1) were outshot 62-15 in the game.

The Jimmies return to the ice at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, when they host Concordia College.
