Jasmine Shavers bounces back from Texas game

Three days after scoring nine points on 3-of-10 shooting, Shavers regained her footing against KU. The 74-47 loss to No. 10 Texas ended her streak of five consecutive games scoring in double figures.

Tech's second-leading scorer finished with 25 points, including 17 through the first three quarters. She entered averaging 14.5 points. It was Shavers' fourth 20-plus point game of the season and first since netting 22 on Dec. 5 against Sam Houston.

Shavers made her first three 3-point attempts and shot 8 of 15 overall.

It was a welcome performance, as Tech's top scorer Bailey Maupin struggled. The sophomore standout posted 10 points on 1-of-7 shooting. Maupin's lowest total was seven points against Houston Christian on Dec. 1, her only other outing with fewer than 11 points.

Loghan Johnson sparks Texas Tech effort off bench

Following the Lady Raiders' worst scoring output of the season, the team got a boost from its bench.

Loghan Johnson spearheaded the efforts with seven points, all in the first half. It was the freshman's fourth game this season with at least seven points. In total, the bench scored 19 points to showcase Tech's offensive balance.

Six players scored at least seven points for the Lady Raiders.

Lady Raiders end Kansas' recent run

Kansas had won the past four meetings, with the Jayhawks' big three of Taiyanna Jackson, Holly Kersgieter and Zakiyah Franklin being at the forefront of the damage. The average margin of victory during the streak was 12.8 points, including 17 last season.

Kersgieter led KU with 21 points, and Wyvette Mayberry added 16 despite not scoring in the fourth quarter.

It was Tech's first win since a 99-98 overtime win in Lubbock in February 2021.
