James Monroe, Greenbrier East, Nicholas County and Midland Trail open up season with wins

Nov. 28—James Monroe 72, Greenbrier West 38

lindside — Maggie Boroski scored 27 points and Mary Beth Meadows added 21 as Class A No. 6 James Monroe defeated No. 3 Greenbrier West 72-38 to open the season.

Preslee Treadway led the Cavaliers with 12 points and Brilee Redden scored 11.

The Mavericks will visit Oak Hill on Thursday. The Cavaliers will host River View on Wednesday.

Greenbrier East 69, Oak Hill 30

fairlea — Ava Workman had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists as Greenbrier East opened its season with a 69-30 win over visiting Oak Hill.

Kennedy Stewart added 19 points and five assists for the Spartans. Hannah Fuller finished with 10 points and seven rebounds, and Mackenna McClure dished out five assists.

Taysia Gray was Oak Hill's top scorer with eight points. Caralyn Smith grabbed 15 rebounds.

Greenbrier East will host Moorefield on Friday. Oak Hill will welcome James Monroe on Thursday.

Nicholas County 50, Shady Spring 35

summersville — Adrienne Truman scored 13 points to lead Nicholas County to a 50-35 win over Shady Spring.

Alexis O'Dell added 12 points for the Grizzlies, who will visit Midland Trail on Friday.

Kendra Pizzino hit six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points for Shady. The Tigers will go to Westside on Friday.

Midland Trail 49, Westside 30

hico — Addison Isaacs scored 19 points in Midaland Trail's 49-30 home win over Westside.

Raelyn Morris added 11 points and Rumor Barnhouse 10 for the Patriots.

The Renegades got 12 points from Katie Lester.

Trail will host Nicholas County on Friday. Westside will host Shady Spring on Thursday.
