JACKSONVILLE — Evan Engram reached some rare air in Jacksonville Jaguars history on Sunday during their game against the Carolina Panthers at EverBank Stadium.

The seventh-year tight end hauled in a 4-yard reception from quarterback C.J. Beathed with 10:20 left in the second quarter for his 100th pass reception of the season. The play went for a first down on fourth-and-one.

Later in the drive, he took a Beathard pass for a 22-yard gain to lead to a Brandon McManus field goal and a 6-0 Jags lead.

Engram entered the game with 98 catches for 834 yards and three touchdowns.

Reception No. 99 came on the Jaguars' first possession of the game, going for 10 yards to pick up a first down on a third-and-one near midfield.

Engram joined Jaguars wide receiver Jimmy Smith, who caught 116 passes in 1999 and 112 in 2001, in the franchise's 100-catch club. Engram has long shattered all Jaguars single-season receiving records for tight ends.

How many NFL tight ends have caught 100 passes in a season?

Engram became the eighth tight end in NFL history with 100 or more receptions in one season in the Super Bowl Era. The record he's chasing is also the same as the Jaguars team record held by Smith: Zach Ertz of Philadelphia caught 116 passes in 2018 to set the NFL record at his position.

Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce is the only NFL tight end with multiple 100-catch seasons, in 2022 (110), 2020 (105) and 2018 (103). He could add a fourth, with 90 receptions entering the final two weeks of the regular season.

Jaguars coach Doug Pederson coached Ertz when he was with the Eagles.

Other tight ends with 100 or more catches in one season were Jason Witten of Dallas (110 in 2012), Mark Andrews of Baltimore (107 in 2021), Darren Waller of Las Vegas (107 in 2020), Tony Gonzales of Kansas City (102 in 2004) and Dallas Clark in 2009 (100).
