Isaiah Mobley leads Cavs to NBA Summer League title and wins MVP award

Former USC Trojans star Isaiah Mobley is already fitting in with the Cleveland Cavaliers. With his second pro season coming up, he delivered a marvelous performance at the Las Vegas NBA Summer League.

The Cavs finished 6-0 and defeated the Houston Rockets to win the title on Monday night. Mobley was the star of the week. In the final game of the summer league for 2023, Mobley exploded with 28 points and 11 rebounds, becoming the first Cavs player to score 25 points with 10 rebounds in the summer league since Ante Zizic in 2018.

Mobley won the summer league title on Monday. One day earlier, on Sunday, hit the game-winner against the Brooklyn Nets in the semifinals, so things have gone well for him in Las Vegas since the summer league began.

Sam Merrill (27 points) and rookie Emoni Bates (19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) also played well in the finale, but Isaiah Mobley’s performance throughout the week is a sign that he needs more minutes this upcoming season.

After a stellar career with the Trojans, both Evan Mobley and Isaiah Mobley are looking like talented NBA players for the Cavs. Isaiah certainly increased the odds that he will be able to spend this next season playing more games alongside his brother.
