Injury Report: Klay Thompson (knee soreness) questionable vs. Mavericks on Tuesday

After missing the second leg of a back-to-back on Friday against the Houston Rockets and being ruled out on Sunday against the Utah Jazz, Klay Thompson’s status for the Golden State Warriors’ contest on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks is questionable.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Thompson didn’t practice with the Warriors on Monday. The five-time All-Star missed Sunday’s win over the Jazz with knee soreness.

On Sunday, Steve Kerr called Thompson’s “nothing too concerning,” per Slater.

With only six games into his long-awaited return from an Achilles and knee injury, the Warriors will likely be overly cautious and patient with Thompson throughout the regular season.

Jordan Poole could slide back next to Curry in Golden State’s backcourt until Thompson returns alongside his fellow Splash Brother. On Sunday, Poole led the Warriors with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.

Poole, Gary Payton II and Damion Lee could see more minutes in Golden State’s backcourt with Thompson out.

The Warriors are slated to meet the Mavericks on Tuesday at 7 p.m. PT at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
