IHSA announces postseason brackets for boys and girls basketball

Feb. 9—The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) announced its postseason schedules and brackets for boys and girls basketball. The girls' brackets were released last week; the boys' brackets were released Friday afternoon.

Class 1A

The St. Anthony Bulldogs will open the postseason on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. against Ramsey at the Enlow Center.

St. Anthony earned one of two No. 1 seeds in the St. Anthony Sectional. Ramsey was the 15th seed.

The winner of that contest will then play either sixth-seeded Nokomis or seventh-seeded Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor (WSS) at Bethany (Okaw Valley) High School on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. Nokomis and WSS play Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Nokomis High School.

The victor from that game will then advance to the regional championship game on Feb. 23 at Okaw Valley against either fourth-seeded Arcola, 10th-seeded Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick, fifth-seeded Bethany (Okaw Valley) or ninth-seeded Moweaqua (Central A&M), at 7 p.m. CHBC and Arcola play on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Arcola High School.

The Altamont Indians earned one of two No. 2 seeds in the top half of the bracket and will play 15th-seeded Mulberry Grove on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Altamont High School. The winner will face either seventh-seeded North Clay or 10th-seeded South Central on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Altamont. North Clay and South Central play on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at North Clay High School.

The victor from that contest will then advance to the regional championship game on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at Altamont against either third-seeded Bluford (Webber), 14th-seeded Sandoval, fifth-seeded St. Elmo/Brownstown, or 13th-seeded Patoka/Odin. SEB and Patoka/Odin play Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Elmo High School.

On the bottom half of the bracket, Dieterich earned the other No. 1 seed and will face either eighth-seeded Cisne or ninth-seeded Albion (Edwards County) on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Albion (Edwards County) High School.

The winner of that game will then face either fourth-seeded Centralia (Christ Our Rock Lutheran), 12th-seeded Wayne City, sixth-seeded Grayville, or 11th-seeded Bridgeport (Red Hill) on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. for the regional championship.

As for the final Class 1A team, the Neoga Indians will face 12th-seeded Martinsville on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Neoga High School.

Class 2A

The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes will open the postseason on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. against either ninth-seeded Marshall or 10th-seeded Paris. T-Town earned one of two No. 2 seeds in the Shelbyville Sectional.

The winner of that contest will then play either third-seeded Newton, seventh-seeded Mt. Carmel or 12th-seed Hutsonville/Oblong-Palestine (OPH) on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at Newton High School for the regional championship. The Newton Eagles will play either Mt. Carmel or OPH on Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Newton.

As for the final Class 2A team, the Cumberland Pirates will face fifth-seeded Flora on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Flora High School.

Class 3A

The Effingham Flaming Hearts will open the postseason on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. against Charleston at Charleston High School. Effingham earned the No. 10 seed in the Troy (Triad) Sectional.

The winner of that contest will then face No. 2-seeded Mt. Vernon on Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at Charleston.

Class 1A

The St. Anthony Bulldogs will open the postseason on Monday at 6 p.m. against either seventh-seeded Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City or 11th-seeded Decatur (Unity Christian) at the Enlow Center. St. Anthony earned one of two No. 1 seeds in the Moweaqua (Central A&M) Sectional.

The winner of that contest will then play either fourth-seeded Mowequa (Central A&M), sixth-seeded Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor or 12th-seeded Argenta-Oreana on Thursday at 6 p.m. at St. Anthony for the regional championship. CHBC and Decatur (Unity Christian) play today at 1 p.m. at Cowden-Herrick High School. WSS and Argenta-Oreana play today at 1 p.m. at Stewardson-Strasburg High School.

On the bottom half of the bracket, the Altamont Lady Indians earned one of two No. 2 seeds and will play either eighth-seeded Neoga or ninth-seeded Cerro Gordo/Bement on Monday at 6 p.m. at Dieterich High School.

The winner of that game will then play either third-seeded Decatur (St. Teresa), fifth-seeded Dieterich or 10th-seeded Bridgeport (Red Hill) on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Dieterich for the regional championship. Neoga and Cerro Gordo/Bement play today at 6 p.m. at Neoga High School. Dieterich and Red Hill play today at 1 p.m. at Dieterich.

As for the final Class 1A team, the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers will face 13th-seeded Bunker Hill today at 1 p.m. at Brownstown High School.

BSE earned the No. 3 seed in the Nokomis Sectional.

The winner of the Bombers and Bunker Hill game will face either Maryville (Christian) or Edwardsville (Metro-East Lutheran) in a regional semifinal on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive High School.

Class 2A

The Teutopolis Lady Shoes will open the postseason on Monday at 7:30 p.m. against either Marshall or Palestine/Hutsonville-Oblong at Lawrenceville High School. T-Town earned one of two No. 3 seeds in the Newton Sectional.

The winner of that contest will then play either second-seeded Mt. Carmel, ninth-seeded Cumberland or 11th-seeded Lawrenceville on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lawrenceville for the regional championship. Cumberland and Lawrenceville play today at 10 a.m. at Waldrip Gymnasium.

As for the final Class 2A team, the Newton Lady Eagles will face 10th-seeded Flora today at 1 p.m. at Newton High School.

Newton earned the No. 5 seed in the Newton Sectional.

The winner of the Newton and Flora game will face Carmi (White County) in a regional semifinal on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Fairfield High School.

Class 3A

The Effingham Flaming Hearts will open the postseason on Monday at 6 p.m. against either sixth-seeded Troy (Triad) or seventh-seeded Salem at Salem High School. Effingham earned one of two No. 2 seeds in the Effingham Sectional.

The winner of that contest of that contest will then play either third-seeded Bethalto (Civic Memorial) or fifth-seeded Centralia on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Salem for the regional championship.
