Huskers lose commitment from Texas RB Kewan Lacy
For the second time in less than a week, the Nebraska Cornhuskers have lost a commitment from their 2024 recruiting class.
Lancaster, Texas running back Kewan Lacy announced on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, his decision to decommit from head coach Matt Rhule and the Husker football program. The decision comes as Lacy’s recruitment over the last several weeks has seen an uptick thanks to a strong senior season.
“Dear Husker nation I want to thank you for the support and the opportunity to come play the sport I love at the University of Nebraska and thank you to all the coaches for recruiting me and showing love with that being said I am decommitting and my recruitment is 100% open”
Lacy was considered a three-star prospect by most of the recruiting industry, including 247 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN. On3 is particularly high on the 6-foot-0, 205-pound tailback, rating him as the 166th-best prospect nationally and the 13th-best running back in the country.

With Lacy no longer committed to the program, the Cornhuskers hold 25 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class, the first full recruiting cycle class under head coach Matt Rhule. While Lacy is the second decommitment from the program this week, it hasn’t been all bad news for the program over the last week. Last Friday, the Huskers picked up a commitment from three-star legacy safety Caleb Benning, an Omaha native.
