Husker soccer falls short against No. 4 Penn State

Nebraska soccer continued its trek out east to face its biggest test so far this season, No. 4 Penn State. On a rainy Sunday afternoon, the Huskers battled it out with the Nittany Lions in a defensive battle. Nebraska’s fight came up short as Penn State walked away with a 1-0 victory to remain undefeated.

The Nittany Lions’ only goal of the game came with just over 10 minutes left in the match. Senior Cori Dyke scored for Penn State off a free kick, which ended up being the play of the game. It was one of just three shots on goal for the Nittany Lions in the match, despite having 13 total shots. Nebraska’s stats were similar, finishing with five shots on goals off 15 total shots.

Eleanor Dale led the Huskers with six shots in the match with one on goal. Sadie Waite and Sarah Weber both finished with three shots. Waite shot two on goal while Weber shot one on goal.

The Huskers fall to 7-2-2 on the season and will return home to host Rutgers on Thursday. The match is set to begin at 7:05 p.m. and can be viewed on Big Ten Network.
