Hornets reward rookie Bryce McGowens with a 4-year contract
Charlotte Hornets rookie Bryce McGowens will reportedly sign a standard NBA deal after previously spending the season on a two-way contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The contract will reportedly be worth $7.4 million over four years with a team option in the final season. The team needed to sign at least one player to meet the league-mandated 14-player roster minimum after their recent roster transactions.
McGowens, the 40th pick out of Nebraska, is averaging 4.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and one assist in 26 appearances. He also spent 10 games in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm, averaging 22.4 points, 4.1 assists and four rebounds on 43.7% shooting from the field.
The Hornets certainly believe McGowens has a bright future ahead after rewarding him with a four-year contract. They will likely now take a closer look at him over their final 20 games of the season as they look toward the future out of the playoff picture.
