Here's a roundup of high school varsity action on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Girls basketball

Hereford 65, Franklin 23: The Bulls shut out the Indians in both the second and fourth quarters. Lauren Kraft scored 18 of her 20 points and hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter. Gabby Nieberlein backed her with 12 points and Megan Hess scored 11.

Pikesville 79, Patapsco 33: Bree Taylor had a game-high 17 points, as well as four assists and four steals for the Panthers. Sophomore Mariah Jones-Bey added 11 points, 11 assists and five steals in the win.

Carver A&T 42, Perry Hall 40: The visiting Wildcats (6-4) beat the Gators (8-4). Friday, Carver A&T travels to Pikesville and Perry Hall hosts Eastern Tech..

Manchester Valley 63, Tuscarora 49: Autumn Stottlemire and Reese Kresslein each scored 17 points to lead the Mavericks to the win. Kresslein added eight rebounds, while Stottlemire had four steals and three assists. Lilah Kresslein finished with eight points and six rebounds.

Mount de Sales 45, St. Paul's 31: Shelby Lewis and Mackenzie Conley each scored 14 points to lead the host Sailors (13-4, 4-2 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland B Conference) over the Gators (3-7, 1-4). The victory was the fifth straight. Friday Mount de Sales travels to Bryn Mawr. St. Paul's hosts Friends on Monday.

Mt. Hebron 36, Centennial 31: Pearl Prasartkarnka scored a team-high 17 points for the Vikings (7-5, 5-4 Howard County), who came back from a two-point halftime deficit. For Centennial (5-7, 3-6) Adria Welsh had 11 points.

Oakland Mills 53, Howard 46: The Scorpions (9-4, 7-2 Howard County) rallied back from down nine in a well-balanced scoring effort. Chloe Grenway had a team-high 12 points, while Destiny Macharia added 11. Both Adey Alexander and Jeriah Shipp had 10. For Howard (8-4, 7-2), O Daniel had 17 points, while Riley Watson added 14.

Marriotts Ridge 30, Wilde Lake 28: Senior Anna Hendrickson led the Mustangs (2-10, 2-9 Howard County) to their second straight win. She had a team-high 11, while Lamees Bazzi added eight points. For Wilde Lake (0-12, 0-11), Quinn Corkeron had 11 and Deja Williams had 10.

Glenelg 41, Long Reach 34: The Gladiators (4-8, 3-6 Howard County) came back from an eight-point halftime deficit for the win. Both Maria Garbis and Reese Holden had 15 points in the win. For Long Reach (2-11, 2-8), Jaiden Bryant had 18 points.

John Carroll 44, Edgewood 40: Sam Donovan scored 12 points, but the visiting Rams fell to the Patriots (8-4). Other top performers for Edgewood included: Jael Erickson with nine points and six rebounds, India Satterfield and Lilly Smeltzer, each of whom had eight points and 10 rebounds and four steals, and Phanierra Barnett with seven rebounds.

Harford Tech 44, C. Milton Wright 41: In the loss, Emma Jankowiak had 11 points and five rebounds for the Mustangs. Carley Jehnert contributed 10 points and five rebounds, while Sam Wolfkill finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

Glen Burnie 47, Arundel 32: Trinity Munford scored 15 points to lead the visiting Gophers past the Wildcats. Glen Burnie finished on an 11-6 run.

Mercy 72, Mount Carmel 62, 2OT: Milan Brown scored a game-high 52 points and had 12 rebounds to lead the host Magic (9-8, 4-6 Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference) over the Cougars (9-12, 1-10).

St. Vincent Pallotti 55, St. Mary's 47: Sydney Anthony made four free throws in the end to secure the win for Pallotti. Gabriel Clary had 27 points for Pallotti. Bailey Harris led the Saints with 28 points while Alexandre Vandiver had 11.

Severn 39, Bel Air 15: Nyela Djossu and Katie Mentesana both had 10 points for the Admirals.

Boys basketball

Long Reach 67, Glenelg 44: Jayden Saunders scored a game-high 30 points to lead the host Lightning (14-1, 8-1 Howard County). RJ Barnes added 11 for the Lightning. Ty Jenkins had nine points for Glenelg (3-9, 2-7).

Gerstell 61, St. Mary's 44: Caleb Franze scored a game-high 27 points to lead the host Falcons (16-5) over the Saints (6-13). Gerstell led 32-17 in the first half. Colin Toms was a force inside with 10 points and 18 rebounds. Tyson Galloway collected four steals. Gavin Johnson had 13 points for St. Mary's.

St. Maria Goretti 70, Loyola Blakefield 58 The Gaels (8-6) beat the host Dons (13-8). The loss was the fifth straight. Loyola hosts Gilman on Friday.

Severn 69, Friends 40: The visiting Admirals (13-5) won their eighth in a row and have not lost a game in January. The Quakers fell to 4-8. Severn was led by Sean Harvey (16 points), Kingston Price (12 points), and Corey Dixon (11 points).

Meade 64, Annapolis 45: Josh Holmes scored 14 points and James Johnson had 12 points to lead the Mustangs (9-3, 2-2 Anne Arundel) over the Panthers. Friday, Meade travels to Glen Burnie.

Parkville 60, Randallstown 41: The visiting Knights beat the Rams with strong games from Chima Egeonu (17 points), Mikko Persia (14 points) and Cam Alexander (11 points).

Saints Peter & Paul 64, Park 55: The host Sabres (4-4, 1-1 Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association C Conference) beat the Bruins (2-8, 1-1). The win halted a three-game slide.

Mt. Hebron 64, Centennial 52: Julian Kelly scored 15 points for the Vikings (8-4, 5-3 Howard County) in the win. Kenny Akinlosotu added 11 points, seven of which came in the first quarter. For Centennial (6-5, 5-5), Charlie Crabtree had 17 points.

Atholton 67, Reservoir 45: The Raiders (10-5, 6-4 Howard County) won their fifth game in a row. Deion Dent (22 points) and Amir Shaheed (20 points) led the way in the win, while Camden Thibeault added 12 points. For Reservoir (1-11, 1-10), Phoenix Eggleston had 18 points.

Marriotts Ridge 60, Wilde Lake 53: The Mustangs (8-5, 5-3 Howard County) got back in the win column led by Jack Bonner and Restia Whitaker. Bonner had a team-high 18 points and Whitaker added 14. Blake Willingham chipped in seven.

Chapelgate 67, AACS 56: Chapelgate (9-7, 2-4 MIAA B Red) was led by Justin Bishop's 20 points in the win. Julian Sabbat added 17, while Landen Custis chipped in 11.

Wrestling

Harford Tech 54, Edgewood 26: The host Cobras beat the Rams. Edgewood got pins from Kori Anthony (106) and Miles Putney (285).

Bel Air 31, Patterson Mill 29: Austin Nielsen and Melder Sandoval got pins for the Huskies in the loss. Other winners for Patterson Mill were Gabe Filling, Jasper Baker, Jeff Gessner and Christian Joglar.

Chesapeake 63, Meade 13: Cougars recording pins were: Nolan Behler (113), Brayden Roberts (120), Michael Greenstreet (126), Jackson Worley (132), Owen Collins (138), Collin Richardson (150), Keanu Furbush (175), Xander Dodd (215) and Jonas Dotson (HWT).

Girls swimming

Severn 117, St. Paul's 52: Kenzie Getz swept her four events: the 200 IM, 500 freestyle, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay.
