High school highlights for Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023

Dec. 9—NON-CONFERENCE

—Schaeffer Academy earned a 61-54 win at Wabasha-Kellogg thanks to 29 points from Ethan VanSchepen, 16 from Levi Ouren, and 16 rebounds from Joe Grenz. Henry Meyer led W-K with 13 points.

—Stewartville held off Delano for a 62-58 victory. The Tigers were led by Henry Tschetter, who had a team-high 16 points and 13 rebounds. Caleb Bancroft added 14 points and four rebounds, and Jason Shindelar had 7 points and 10 rebounds.

—Keegan Ryan scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, but Lake City fell to Albany 67-49 at a Showcase in Hopkins. Lake City also received 12 points from Jaden Shones and 5 rebounds from Josh Wohlers. Zeke Austin scored a game-high 20 points for Albany.

—Aiden Johnson had a big game for Cannon Falls, scoring 31 points (including five 3-pointers) as the Bombers beat Dover-Eyota 81-57. Jack Meyers added 16 points for Cannon Falls. Matthew Matejka led D-E with 16 points.

—Mason Apse scored 17 points, Isaac Hanson added 15 and Owen Maloney 13 for St. Charles in a 95-61 win at Math & Science Academy in Woodbury. The Saints made nine 3-pointers in the game.

—Colton Steberg led three Kenyon-Wanamingo players in double figures, with 18 points, while Zach Mason had 15 and RJ Hodgman had 11 in the Knights' 63-49 win against Lyle/Austin Pacelli. Landon Meyer led L/P with 16 points.

—Cayden Tollefsrud scored 24 points and Isaac Underbakke added 16 for Mabel-Canton, but the Cougars fell 59-51 to South Winnishiek (Iowa) in the Border Battle at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

NON-CONFERENCE

—Bailey Klote scored 23 points, Audrey Whitney had 19 and Century pulled away from Section 1, Class 4A rival Farmington in the second overtime for a 78-68 victory at Century High School. Nora Lynch added 15 points for the Panthers.

—Elisabeth Gadient scored a game-high 24 points, and had 6 rebounds, but Goodhue fell to Providence Academy 86-70. Kendyl Lodermeier added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, while Julia Carlson also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

—Dover-Eyota's Madi Mullikin and Cannon Falls' Livia Tennessen put on a back-and-forth show, with Mullikin's Eagles winning 74-49. Mullikin scored a game-high 29 points, including five 3-pointers, while Tennessen scored 28. Miranda Palmby added 16 in the win for D-E.

—Stewartville had 13 players score en route to blasting Austin 78-36. The Tigers were paced by Audrey Shindelar with 17 points. Delaney Sanford added 11 points and six rebounds and Jayci Rath had 10 points and seven rebounds.

—Cotter junior star forward Clarissa Sauer had 25 points and paced the Ramblers to a 66-40 win over St. Clair. Abby Williams added 16 points for Cotter.

NON-CONFERENCE

—Jack Roe had a goal and three assists, and Anton Ackley made 19 saves to record his first varsity victory as Lourdes beat visiting St. Paul Highland Park 5-1. Vinny Harens, Jack Roe and Landon Spicer had a goal and an assist each for the Eagles.

—Brett Ludvigsen scored two goals and assisted on two, and Gryff Funke had two goals and an assist in Dodge County's 5-2 win at La Crescent-Hokah. Jackson Roethler made 30 saves in the win. Wyatt Farrell had a goal and an assist for the Lancers.

—Mikah Nelson made 42 saves, but Rochester Mayo couldn't get its offense revving in a 4-1 loss to visiting Proctor. Frank Goodman scored the lone goal for the Spartans.

—Damon Noland made 28 saves, but Winona fell at Mankato West 5-2. Teis Larsen had two assists in the loss for the Winhawks.

NON-CONFERENCE

—Ida Huber was on top of her game, making 38 saves to backstop No. 6-ranked Dodge County to a 2-1 win at New Ulm. Mollie Koch had two assists in the win, while senior Abby Simons had a goal and an assist.

DAVE SCHARBERG MEMORIAL, BYRON

—Dover-Eyota won the championship of the Dave Scharberg Memorial Tournament in Byron. The Eagles beat Westfield 63-9, Waterville-E-M 57-11 and host Byron 64-9. Dover-Eyota is the No. 8-ranked team in the state in Class 1A.

NON-CONFERENCE

—Century won at the first six weights and received pins from Keon Allis (114 pounds), Keegan Thoma (121), Isaak Douangdy (133), Gabrien Callies (139) and Cooper Sheeran (160) in a 45-27 victory against St. Agnes.

HUTCHINSON INVITATIONAL

—Chatfield had two champions at the Hutchinson Invitational on Saturday. Chloe Berg went 5-0 to win the 124-pound bracket, recording all five of her wins by pin. Likewise, Grace Finley pinned her way to the 142-pound title, going 5-0 with five pins.
