Herb Williams steps away as boys basketball coach at Williams Field
Gilbert Williams Field's boys basketball team will be led by Trey Kinard for the rest of this season, after coach Herb Williams stepped down.
Athletic Director Darrel Stangle said that Williams decided to step away from his coaching duties "to focus on his classroom and his family."
"While it is never an easy decision to make, Coach Williams wishes the best for our campus and the basketball program," Stangle said in an email. "We thank Coach Williams for all his contributions these past two seasons."
Kinard will serve as interim head coach for the varsity team, which is 4-11, playing in the 5A Conference.
